Fully Functional Gravity-Defying Chair

With severed, angled gaps in three out of four legs, it looks like the work of a chainsaw-wielding maniac. But those gaps are clean cut and without blood, despite the redness of the slices, and definitely not the work of Leatherface.

Peter Bristol's "cut chair" seems to defy all rules of gravity, but this product designer's marvelously crafted optical illusion provides a stable sitting area thanks to some hidden steel.

The thick, heavy carpet hides a steel square plate underneath, which connects the cantilevered seat's one full leg with bolts. The other three well-placed stumps are also bolted to the plate, stabilizing the environment.

It's not quite as mobile as a normal four-legged chair, but it's just mobile enough to seat your dinner guests and provide one hell of a conversation.
